Mike Sheridan is a Copenhagen-based composer and musician. In his recent work (in progress), Sheridan turns towards the theme of touch — the heightened state where presence and perception converge in an exploration of the tension between control and surrender, between what resonates and what slips beneath the surface. Within “touch” he investigates his own experience with dyscalculia; how does one’s work project itself when conventional music theory remains a black box? His music folds through layers upon itself of processed recordings – of his instruments (he plays the rare Cristal Baschet sound sculpture, EMS style synthesizer, aluminum body electric guitar) – and manifests as shifting structures and blocks of ambiance. Allowing the music to listen back to itself, using extensive overdubbing techniques, while in its conception, it becomes an active listener’s tracing of his own intuitive space with sound as an ever-changing mirror.

Mike Sheridan released his debut album I Syv Sind in 2008, with which he bridged ambient, pop, and electronic music, establishing him in Denmark’s mainstream scene. Since then, he has moved freely across genres and disciplines — composing for theatre, dance, and film, performing as a DJ, musician, and collaborating with a wide array of artists such as Palle Mikkelborg, Garth Knox, and Fred Frith to dance music giants Janus Rasmussen and Kölsch. His latest album, Atmospherics, was released in 2023 via HFN Music, Hamburg.
