DRONES is conceived as a practice of sound exploration in its most essential form. The project investigates the boundaries between sound and space through immersive Ambient atmospheres and Drone textures, inviting an active listening practice that aims to deconstruct everyday sound perception and open up new awareness of the surrounding soundscape and their inner self.
Abigail Toll
Sound artist, composer and researcher who engages with the physical and metaphysical aspects of sound in space. Her live shows melt together psychoacoustics and “noise” to both divine and terrifying effect. Toll’s debut record ‘Matrices of Vision’ (rel. Shelter Press, 2023) was described as “40 exquisite moments” (Bandcamp) and “a fascinating record – hyper concentrated on [Toll’s] academic training [as] a kind of exorcism” (GRM/Radio France). Her second solo album ‘Idol’ will be released on 07 November 2025 on Superpang.
Toll will present material from her forthcoming album ‘Idol’ (rel. Superpang, 7 Nov ‘25), which is inspired by her encounter with Malta’s Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum—a 5,000-year-old burial site. Toll’s soaring flute, droning electronics and hypnotic vocal mantras are composed using the temple’s resonant frequencies 70Hz and 114Hz, which are said to affect physiological sensations on the body. For Toll, the music stirs a dialogue between ancient and contemporary listening, exploring how sound survives — through what and who it touches across different dimensions. For this performance, she will be joined by double bassist Caleb Salgado.
ASERET
Ambient-Drone composer and live performer based in Berlin.
Characterised by contemplative drones as the foundation upon which sound textures and sequencing are delicately layered to create immersive auditory experiences.
The purpose of his works is to bring back to the foreground the human value, giving a chance to the listeners to identify themselves, reconsidering their own spaces outside of time, in contrast with an increasingly hectic world.
