This night is dedicated to the spirit of the electronic composer Zbigniew Karkowski (*1958—2013)

Zbigniew Karkowski was a Polish-Swedish experimental musician, performer and composer born in Krakow, Poland. He was active in contemporary music, industrial music, noise, experimental performance and pop music. His body of work transgressed the boundaries and barriers, opening spaces that many have since occupied.
Since 1996 Zbigniew was living in Tokyo. He got fascinated by Japanese culture and was in an active dialogue with the underground noise scene. He has (and his work has been) performed throughout Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan. In October 2013 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Because European doctors couldn’t give him any hope of recovery he travelled to Peru to seek treatment from a shaman. He died in December, only days after arriving in Peru.
