The duo of Liz Allbee and Ignaz Schick started with a performance in summer 2024 in Berlin. Both had collaborated in various smaller and larger settings before: Splitter Orchestra, an acoustic quartet, and in ALLBEE/BUTCHER/SCHICK/ZAPPAROLI. The two realized that there is a mutual kinship in their approach towards extended electro-acoustic material and its implementation, and their first meeting live was truly a magical moment. The two create a fast moving and intense form of musique concrete which draws on Allbee’s extensive reservoir of trumpet modifications and Schick’s abstract sample archive. The two players manage to combine their materials in such way that they become one voice, while at the same time the individual layers are consistently audible.
